Listen With Your Hands, Touch With Your Voice
Seminar organized by the ATSA Osteopathy School, led by Dr. Lewis Mehl-Madrona
This two-day seminar offers an immersive exploration of the meeting point between Native American healing traditions, Cherokee manual medicine, and osteopathic practice. Through lectures, discussions, and hands-on sessions, participants will discover the historical influences of Native medicine on osteopathy, learn unique Cherokee techniques, and practice “touch and talk” methods to deepen therapeutic connection.
The program weaves together neuroscience, storytelling, ethics, and multicultural perspectives with practical skills such as creating sacred spaces, integrating rituals and ceremonies into treatment, and incorporating sound healing into manual care.
Attendees will gain tools to enrich communication, enhance patient engagement, and bring greater depth to their healing work.
